Initiatives for Youth Empowerment in Meghalaya

On Thursday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman commenced her four-day official visit to Meghalaya, engaging in various programs focused on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and urban infrastructure development.

Sitharaman chaired a dialogue session under the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS) alongside Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and other officials. This session brought together trainees from different states in the region, industry leaders, and government representatives.

The PMIS aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing internship opportunities to youth across the country, particularly those from remote areas.

During the session, several trainees shared their personal and professional growth experiences gained through the scheme. In her address, Sitharaman emphasized the vision behind the PMIS.

She stated that the initiative was designed to assist individuals who have never had job or internship opportunities, enabling them to acquire essential skills and workplace experience. It is heartening to see many of you making the most of this platform.
